Dresden University Hospital
As part of the renewal of the electrical systems in Building 105 at the University Hospital Dresden, we have planned an LED light line integrated into the floor as a supplementary element of the visual safety guidance system.
The low-level lighting guidance supports orientation toward the exits in the event of an emergency—particularly when smoke reduces the visibility of ceiling-mounted safety signs and luminaires. The system is being tested and documented as a pilot project while the building remains in operation. The aim is to gain practical experience for the potential future use of low-level lighting guidance systems at the University Hospital Dresden.
Beyond its safety function, the light line forms part of an overarching lighting and color concept. It emphasizes the linear architecture of the corridors and can be controlled in different colors depending on the respective building area or floor.
Integration into a Human-Centric Lighting concept is also possible: stimulating, cooler light in the morning, neutral light around midday, and warmer light in the evening. In this way, the project combines safety requirements with wayfinding, architectural design, and a user-oriented lighting atmosphere.
